Spade Bits, also known as paddle bits, are used for rough boring in wood.  The cutters are equipped with spurs to ensure a cleaner hole.  The Spade bits have a small shank diameter relative to their boring diameter, and are intended for use with electric hand drill motors. The Spade Bit is used when the installer needs to cut a fast, clean hole.  Two cutting spurs scribe the hole to reduce "Break-out".  Paddle end includes a pullhole for wire installations or easy hanging. Most commonly used by carpenters, electricians and plumbers, and DIY individuals.
